RB Leipzig have been one of the stories of the season in the Bundesliga this campaign, and they could climb back to the summit of the division with a win this weekend against Schalke. Meanwhile, Borussia Monchengladbach will be looking to increase their chances of achieving a Champions League finish when they take on Hoffenheim.
Schalke vs RB Leipzig
The unpredictability of the Bundesliga this season has kept fans engaged throughout the campaign. RB Leipzig may not have many neutral fans in Germany, but they are at least competing in the title race against Bayern Munich. They had gone into the second half of the season as the leaders, but recent form has ensured that the Bavarian club have leap-frogged them.
Leipzig have stuttered over recent weeks as they have won just twice in their last five league games. They also suffered a defeat during this run, which was only their third loss of the season. However, they very much remain in with a chance of winning the league title, but they will know that they can’t afford any more slip-ups this season.
Their last outing in the league was a 3-0 win against Werden Bremen. Lukas Klostermann, Patrik Schick and Nordi Mukiele scored the goals in that win. Leipzig will also be hoping that Timo Werner will be able to find the net for the first time in two games, as their chances of winning the title will likely hinge on his form.
Schalke have European aspirations of their own this season, but they need to make up the four-point gap between themselves and Bayer Leverkusen. Schalke’s form has stuttered over recent weeks as they haven’t won in four games, which also includes three consecutive draws. Their last draw came against Mainz.
Leipzig holds the advantage in the overall record having won on three occasions compared to the two wins recorded by Schalke. Gamblers will be aware of that fact and will be betting on the visitors taking all three points.
Borussia Monchengladbach vs Hoffenheim
Two of the most exciting teams to watch in the Bundesliga this season will come up against each other on Saturday, as Monchengladbach will be looking to go above Borussia Dortmund into third spot. Hoffenheim also still have hopes of reaching a European place this season, and they will need the three points to go level with Schalke in sixth.
Monchengladbach will go into the game in good form, as they are unbeaten in their last three. During that run, they have won twice and drawn once. They have also only lost once in their past five fixtures. Their last outing was a dominant display against Fortuna Dusseldorf as they ran out 4-1 winners. Lars Stindl scored twice on that occasion, while there were also goals for Jonas Hofmann and Florian Neuhaus. Monchengladbach have been serial winners so far this campaign, as only Bayern Munich have won more games than the 13 recorded by the hosts on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Hoffenheim have been in indifferent form over recent weeks as they have won twice in their last five. However, they have lost the other three games during this spell. They have also lost back-to-back games in the league, with those defeats coming against Freiburg and Wolfsburg. The latter of those was their last outing, as they fell to a 3-2 defeat. Hoffenheim twice drew level in the match, before Wout Weghorst secured the win for Wolfsburg with 20 minutes remaining.
Hoffenheim holds the advantage in the overall record between the sides as they have won on nine occasions. Monchengladbach have recorded seven wins, but they will still be the pick for gamblers this weekend.
