There are two huge fixtures in the Bundesliga this weekend. Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig go head to head, with the winning side able to finish the weekend in second place. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich will get their hands on the Bundesliga title after their final home game of the season against Freiburg.
RB Leipzig vs Borussia Dortmund
The match of the weekend will see Borussia Dortmund take on RB Leipzig. There are only three points between the two sides, with nothing between them on goal difference. A victory for RB Leipzig will see them go into the final round of fixtures in the Bundesliga in second spot while Dortmund could end the season as low as third.
RB Leipzig have been in decent form over their past six games as they have won three and drawn three. Leipzig have only lost three times all season, with that number being the lowest in the division. However, home form has been a big problem for them throughout the season, and they have failed to win their last three games at the Red Bull Arena. They have only lost once at home, but their most popular result has been the draw. That was evident once again in their last league game as they were held to a 2-2 draw against Fortuna Dusseldorf.
Borussia Dortmund had high hopes of winning the league title when the season got back underway, but two defeats in five means that they are now potentially looking down the barrel of not even finishing second in the division. One of those defeats came against Bayern Munich, which ensured that the title would be staying in Bavaria. However, their most recent defeat came in their last league game as they were stunned by Mainz. Jonathan Burkardt and Jean-Philippe Mateta scored the goals as Dortmund lost for the sixth time this season.
Neither side will want to lose this game, and Leipzig’s home record would indicate that they may struggle to take all three points. Therefore, the most logical bet for gamblers will be for the draw.
Bayern Munich vs Freiburg
Bayern Munich would have enjoyed a week of celebrations as they wrapped up their eighth consecutive Bundesliga title this week with victory over Werder Bremen. The only goal of the game was scored by Robert Lewandowski, who has now scored 31 for the season. They will be looking to end the season in style in their final home game as they take on Freiburg before receiving the trophy that they have worked tirelessly for all season.
Bayern have very little targets remaining for the season, but one of those may be to reach the landmark of 100 goals this season. They are currently seven away from that total, but a big win here could set them up perfectly ahead of their final game of the season against Wolfsburg next week. There would be a very slim chance that they will drop points in this game as they have only dropped two points in 2020.
Freiburg will be massive outsiders in this fixture, but they will be doing everything they can to take something away from the game as they try and finish in the final Europa League spot. Defeat for them this weekend coupled with a success for Hoffenheim and Wolfsburg would mean that their hopes of achieving that finish will be over. Freiburg come into the fixture in decent form having won two of their previous three. Their most recent victory came in their last game against Hertha Berlin. Vincenzo Grifo and Nils Petersen scored the goals in that win.
However, gamblers will not be betting against Bayern in this fixture, as the German champions sign off their home season with another big win.
