It has been an excellent season in Serie A to this point, and fans of Inter Milan are now beginning to dare to imagine their side winning the league title at the end of the campaign. Meanwhile, Roma will face a stern test this coming weekend as they take on Napoli, with both sides looking to bounce back from defeat in their last outing.
Inter Milan vs Atalanta
Inter Milan continued to set the pace last time out as they managed to overcome a stern test. However, they will need to continue to win if they have aspirations of winning the league title this season. Antonio Conte’s side will welcome Atalanta to the San Siro this weekend, with three points the expected result for Inter fans.
Inter will go into the game off the back of an impressive display last time out where they managed to secure all three points in a hostile environment against Napoli. Romelu Lukaku was once again the star of the show in that fixture as he scored twice to put Inter on their way. Lautaro Martinez also got in on the act as he scored the third with half an hour remaining. Napoli did manage to get a consolation, but there is no denying that this Inter Milan side are the real deal this season.
Conte’s side have only lost once this season, and have scored more goals than any other team in the division. However, in Atalanta, they will come up against a side that managed to achieve something that they couldn’t, and that was getting out of their Champions League group. The visitors will come into the game looking for three points that would take them into the top four, and they have been in impressive form over recent weeks by winning their last two against AC Milan and Parma. They have scored ten goals in those two games, and haven’t conceded one.
Inter will know that they have a fight on their hands in this fixture, but their home advantage will be crucial. It is unlikely that Inter will take their foot off the accelerator, and they will get the win from this game, but it will be a thrilling match with both teams scoring.
Roma vs Napoli
Two sides that will be looking to get back to winning ways will meet this weekend at the Stadio Olimpico. Roma had the opportunity to solidify their place in their last game, but they missed out as they were beaten by the travelling Torino.
It was a frustrating afternoon for the hosts as they had 31 shots in that match, but eventually fell to a 2-0 defeat. Andrea Belotti got both the goals for Torino. The defeat brought to an end their run of three wins in four, but they still have enough quality in their squad to finish in the top-four.
Napoli meanwhile are having a season to forget. They were excellent last season and finished in second place, but this season they will be extremely lucky to get into the top four. They parted ways with Carlo Ancelotti after he guided them through to the next round of the Champions League, and he was replaced by Genaro Gattuso. However, his fortunes haven’t seen the club improve that much, as they lost in their last fixture against Napoli. That defeat means that they have now won just once in their previous five.
The form of the visitors makes it very hard to see them winning, so punters would fancy the chances of Roma getting back to winning ways as they look to move clear of the team in fifth spot.
