Torino vs Parma

It has been an exciting season in Serie A to this point, and the tension looks set to continue until the end of the season. All eyes have been on the top of the league so far this campaign, but this weekend could be pivotal in deciding who could potentially challenge Atalanta for their Champions League spot.

Torino vs Parma

Two sides that have endured contrasting seasons to this point will meet on the weekend as Torino welcome Parma to the Olimpico di Torino. Not many people would have seen Parma as one of the leaders in the race for European football as this is only their second season back in Serie A following their promotion. However, they are just behind Hellas Verona in the race for a Europa League place at present.

They are also ten points away from the fourth spot, but it would take an unbelievable effort for them to make up that much. Their recent form has been stuttering, as they have won just twice in their past five. That has allowed AC Milan to close ground on them and Milan could end the weekend above Parma if they don’t win at Torino. Parma will go into the game in Torino in good confidence after winning last time out against Sassuolo on the road. The only goal of the game on that occasion was scored by Gervinho.

Meanwhile, it has been a dreadful season for Torino this year. They are now anxiously looking over their shoulders as they look to steer clear of the relegation places. They are just five points above the drop zone, but their recent form wouldn’t be giving them much optimism. They have lost their last five in Serie A, and during this run, they have conceded 17 goals. Gamblers will be placing their bets on Parma to inflict more damage on Torino this weekend.

Hellas Verona vs Cagliari (game postponed due to coronavirus)

Hellas Verona are currently the team that are closest to being in the race for a Champions League place, but they are also ten points behind Atalanta. However, they will be hoping to achieve a Europa League finish and can improve their chances of achieving that this weekend when they host the struggling Cagliari.

Verona have been in steady form over their past five league games in Serie A, as they are yet to lose. However, they have only won twice during this run. The draws that they have been made to settle for have ensured that they haven’t been able to close the gap on fifth-placed Roma, but they could cut away at that four-point gap with a home success this weekend. They will go into their fixture against Cagliari having drawn their last outing in the league as they were held by Udinese. It was a game of very few chances, which has been typical of Verona’s attacking record this season, as they have only scored 28 goals.

However, they will be coming up against a team that have struggled over recent weeks in Cagliari. The visitors this weekend haven’t won in ten games in Serie A, and that has seen them drop down the table quickly. They have won just eight games this season, but three points this weekend could see them go level on points with Verona. The fact that they can achieve this despite being winless in ten highlights how well they started the season, but that early season form has quickly alluded them. Gamblers will be placing their wagers on Verona this weekend, as their form has been consistent over recent weeks.
