There are huge games in many of the big European leagues this weekend, as the race for league titles and places in the European spots heats up. But, which soccer predictions should gamblers be making this weekend?
Real Sociedad vs Sevilla
The top-four already looks wrapped up in LaLiga, with Sevilla having a healthy 14-point cushion over Real Sociedad. However, the hosts will be looking to maintain their position in the Europa League spots with a win this weekend.
The battle for Europa League football looks set to go down to the final day of the season in LaLiga, with three teams fighting for two spots in the league table. Sociedad are the highest placed of the three, as they are sitting in fifth place. However, they will not be able to rest, as they are just one clear of seventh-placed Villarreal. Sociedad will need to turn their form around to improve their chances, as they come into this game without a win in four.
Sevilla are comfortably going to finish in a Champions League place this season, and they look set to finish the season in fourth. They are four points behind Barcelona and six off the top of the league, but a late title challenge looks unlikely with eight games of the season remaining.
Sociedad need a positive result from this fixture, as the gap is closing for Europa League places. However, Sevilla’s record of four wins in five means that it’s hard to see anything other than an away win.
Everton vs Tottenham Hotspur
There will be a Friday night offering in the Premier League this week, as Tottenham Hotspur and Everton will be looking to get back to winning ways to improve their chances of finishing in a European spot.
Tottenham Hotspur will have a big challenge on their hands to achieve that finish this season, as they are six points off fourth coming into this round of fixtures. Spurs have been in indifferent form over their past four games, as they have won just once and have been beaten on two occasions. Their most recent defeat against Manchester United means that they will need to bounce back this weekend. The pressure on Jose Mourinho has mounted over previous weeks, and that will only likely be increased given the latest rumours claiming that Harry Kane may look to move on if Spurs don’t finish in the Champions League spots.
Everton also have endured a terrible recent run of results, and they will welcome Spurs having gone four without a win the league. The Toffees have been held on their last two outings, which includes the 0-0 draw that they were held to against Brighton on Monday night. Carlo Ancelotti’s side are down in eighth, and could drop down to ninth with a defeat against Spurs. However, a victory would lift them back to within four points of fourth.
It will be a difficult game to call on Friday night in the Premier League. Spurs need to respond after their defeat against Manchester United, and they should have just enough to get over the line against Everton.
Wolfsburg vs Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich will be looking to bounce back following a draw last time out in the Bundesliga this weekend. Their most recent result allowed RB Leipzig to close the gap at the top to five points, but Bayern will be aware that they need five more wins to be crowned champions this season.
Bayern warmed up for their second leg against PSG in the Champions League with a 1-1 draw against Union Berlin last time out. Jamal Musiala was the scorer in the draw, but Union hit back in the closing stages to snatch a draw from the fixture. More dropped points from Bayern would open the door for Leipzig this weekend, and that will be something they will be looking to avoid.
Wolfsburg have enjoyed an excellent campaign to this point, and they are in a strong position to finish the season in a Champions League position. They are currently in third place with 54 points, which sees them have an eight-point advantage over Borussia Dortmund. However, they have lost twice in five coming into this fixture, which includes the defeat they suffered against Eintracht Frankfurt last time out.
This should be a thrilling encounter between two sides that have been excellent this season. However, Bayern will be looking to avoid allowing Leipzig back into the title race, and we expect them to get maximum points.
Atalanta vs Juventus
You would have got big odds on Juventus finishing outside of the Serie A top-four this season, but there is still a chance that it could happen this season.
The Old Lady come into this fixture in third in the league standings but are 12 points off the top of the league. They are just three clear of fifth-placed Napoli, and have won just twice in their previous four league games. Juventus managed to win a second game on the bounce last time out, as Weston McKennie and Alvaro Morata were among the scorers in a 3-1 win against Genoa.
Atalanta could move above Juventus in the league standings this weekend with a win against the reigning champions. They are in excellent form at present, as they have won their last four games in the league. However, they need to maintain that momentum to finish in the Champions League spots, as they are just two points clear of Napoli.
There should be goals in this game at the weekend. It is difficult to separate the sides, which means a score draw could be a good bet.
